Highport Capacity Expanded to Meet New Traffic Demands

<< Begin Transmission >>

The Colonial Administration was forced to move well ahead of schedule with plans to expand Highport’s docking capacity to meet the increased demand from both commercial and military Traffic. Following the Colony’s new status upgrade, several merchant and exploration vessels have arrived from throughout the ‘verse to take advantage of the Protectorate’s safe harbor in the Cygnus sector.  With the heavy influx of commercial traffic, and the needs of Colonial Fleet the Colony’s engineers made quick work of adding as second docking ring to the existing station, while improving its cargo and passenger transfer capabilities.  The new Lower Ring is already busy with most of the docking ports in service.

Breaking News: Dokk Refruinn Colony ???

Breaking News:

Rumors of a pending announcement regarding the Protectorate’s outpost at Dokk Refurinn continue to circulate among the Khanate’s capital at Botany Bay.  Sources close to the Khan have indicated that the Outpost’s status will be upgraded to Colony, with a formal announcement coming later this week.

Dokk Refurinn s located deep in the Cygnus sector and since its reclaiming, has served as a link a Local Group called the ‘Tri Galaxy’ region, long disconnected from the ‘verses Stargate Network.  Part of the Botany Bay Khanate, the world and its Sentai has been the responsibility of Gaia’nan Casidhe Sionnach.

Sources have indicated that the Khan’s decision to upgrade the Outpost’s status is a result of the stability and prosperity of the world, under Gaia’nan Sionnach’s leadership. The world has become an important center of commerce and travel within the Khanate, serving as a link from the protectorate to the Tri-Galaxies. Dokk Refurinn’s position as a hub of commerce and exploration has been well exploited by the Protectorate and its allies.

Pack Weylyn

<< Personal Log … begin recording >>

Two weeks; it’s been two weeks since we crash landed on this backwoods planet. It at least has enough atmosphere and oxygen to support life but the days are met with large amounts of radiation. We were caught off guard by a hunter vessel, our small ship which emphasized stealth was little match. We managed to get away but this small planet was the only habitable one in range after our slipstream drive went out.

There is an abandoned mining facility of some sort here. After investigation it seems to be an archaeological site. Zariah, who despite her sometimes feral behavior, was somewhat handy with electronics has been working to get the life support back online. Food and water is being rationed out and our pack’s alpha; Shadow has taken to exploring the facility to find anything else of use.

Aahmas keeps guard over the other two while they sleep and while Zariah does her work trying to get long range coms back online.

<< Personal Log …. Supplemental… >>

Six weeks have passed and food is growing scarce, getting the coms up to contact the rest of the pack seems a lost cause. Shadow has been working to keep Zariah in line, her growing hunger ha shortened her already rocky temper. Few things of use have been found but perhaps they have found hope in the form of what they call a cosmic door. The ancient device must have been uncovered by the miners, and lay against a rocky outcrop at their abandoned base camp. Sadly, without the Dialing Device, none of them can figure out how to use it. The with the control device missing and the ring itself seeming to be locked down and this technology is beyond us.

<< Personal Log …. Supplemental … >

Eight weeks have passed. There is little food left, our water is running out and with the planet growing farther away from the sun on its elliptical orbit, each day grows colder, and our heating systems in a state of disrepair and it struggles to keep up. Our pack sleeps in a huddle in a room across from the cosmic door trying to conserve their warmth. Something draws us to it, and with the ship growing colder and colder, this is as good a place as any to make our stand.

The Astria Portia comes alive and strange beings begin to emerge as the Pack shakes off the cold, and sleep to respond.

The Astria Portia comes alive and strange beings begin to emerge as the Pack shakes off the cold, and sleep to respond.

<< Personal Log …. >>

Aahmas was awoken first, her heightened hearing signaling something is amiss. Something mechanical was grinding.. spinning, like a giant dial. Then, With a roaring sound and bright light the door, our last hope, erupted into life, leaving a shimmering puddle of energy. The rest of the pack is awoken and we take a defensive stance as unfamiliar forms step out of the puddle, will they be our saviors? Or our end?

<< Supplemental … >>

Well, it wasn’t’ our end. This lady came though, leading a group of armored warriors. She said, that she was from the Hengeyokai Protectorate, and that we were lost Kinfolk. Cassi, that’s her name, she said she and her Rangers would give us sanctuary on the Protectorate world of Dokk Refuirnn, until we decided to move on, or find a better. After discussing our options, Shadow and the others decided to go with, so .. here we are, finding out way in this new hunting ground. Something seems… different here, like maybe we belong? Who knows, the pack is talking about staying a while, but there are so many questions.

After some tense discussion, we agreed to take up this, Hengeyokai, on her offer of Sanctuary.

After some tense discussion, we agreed to take up this, Hengeyokai, on her offer of Sanctuary.

Hengeyokai? Kinfolk? What exactly do they mean, ..and more why do they offer safety to us, they hardly know us? Begrudgingly the pack has trusted our new hosts, for now…

<< Mission Log // exceprt // – Ranger SaCom Gregor Rodgers >>

We had completed exploration of the 6th and last world on the day’s mission order. Negative contact had been made during this, and the 5 previous Gate Addresses our team explored. Gaia’nan Sionnach began dialing home as is her custom to do so while leading away teams.

As she began dialing the chevrons for Dokk Refurinn, she barely paused after the third glyph, and began completing a completely different address. I alerted the rest of the Star and inquired as to the Gaia’nan’s intent, she only responded, “ We have someplace out to be… I can feel them .. Kenning”

After Securing the Gate, Gaia'nan Casidhe takes the lead to approach an unknown pack of wolves.

After Securing the Gate, Gaia’nan Casidhe takes the lead to approach an unknown pack of wolves.

Per Standard Operating Procedure, I led the team, through the Astria Portia with the Gaia’nan Sionnach. The address she provided, led to a class L world where we encountered a marooned pack of Wolf Kin. Despite our surprise arrival, Gaia’nan Sionnach was able to convince the Pack, and their Alpha, to return to Dokk Refurinn with us, where she offered them Sanctuary.

Casidhe and the wolf pack come to terms. Pack Weylyn would accept Sanctuary at Dokk Refurinn.

We returned to base and assisted the Sentai provisioning for our new Wolf colonist in the Northern Settlement. During the evening BUB, Casidhe suggested we all get used, to having more kin as, “ The Kenning, has begun.”

ISV STAR WITCH Undergoing extensive repair at Highport

<< Begin Transmission>>

Today at 17:30 LC time the local repair and construction contracting firm of Donnegut, Smith, Smith and Lizzard delivered a Class three Suspension dock to the Independent Stellar Vessel Star Witch.  We reported earlier that the star Witch had returned to port showing some severe signs of damage, though the full extent we are now starting to wonder at.

Star Witch Dry Dock (1)

Highport camera feeds show here the Suspension dock being guided in by several towline mark 5 heavy lifting drones. Seen here guiding it towards the port to link up with the docking port.

Star Witch Dry Dock (5)

Though we were unable to get any standard footage of the actual linking process, the being (We understand who goes by the name Takoda) overseeing the procedure from Highport central had this to say:

“Why are you here? Is that recording device on? The Captain doesn’t owe you money does she?”

Once the docking was secure and the suspension dock activated the drones departed and returned to the DSSL Facilities.

Star Witch Dry Dock (9)

Star Witch Dry Dock (11)

So the questions remain, Just how badly was the Star Witch damaged?  is this something others are going to have to worry about as they come and go from the relatively safe harbor of Dokk Refurinn?  How long will she be under repair and out of service?  And does this mean that the price of Rum will once again go up as the crew is stuck planetside awaiting completion of repairs?

Once again we reached out for comment and contacted the ship’s Executive Officer, Mavia Hian.

Star Witch Dry Dock (17)

“Our policy position on repairs is that we never need them, are definitely not having any done, and in fact they’re done already and we are just painting on a dragon’s head and racing stripes, and you need a dock to get that shit drawn right. ”

Star Witch Dry Dock (21)

And so this near staple of Highport that leaves many technicians wagering on when or if she will return as she travels on various obscure missions is currently grounded, for how long?  And is this perhaps part of the so called Highport Curse that seems to cause Ships to cease functioning or break down merely for having docked there?

Only time, perhaps, will tell.

Star WItch Returns form Extended Mission

<< Begin Transmission …….>>

After a Few weeks absence, the Independent Star Transport “Star Witch” Has returned to Highport Station Docking Port #2.  This wouldn’t normally be considered much in the way of a notable event, as the Witch and her crew have departed several times this last year, leaving docking workers betting  on when or if she’d actually return.

The Star Witch as she docks with HighPort.

The Star Witch as she docks with HighPort.

This Return seems notable for the fact that the Stern of the vessel has suffered a sizable bit of abuse since she last was docked.  A great deal of which seems to be battle-damage related.  Before the Privacy filters were engaged the following Images were made of what appears to be some considerable damage.

Damage observed before privacy filters were engaged.

Damage observed before privacy filters were engaged.

Initially there was no comment from the Crew or Captain of the vessel, the Captain herself hasn’t been seen since they docked, which has of course caused the price of rum on local establishments to fluctuate dramatically.  We did manage to track down The XO Mavia Hian and get the following statement:

“Damage?  you call that damage, my grandmother did more damage than that when grandpa brought home one of his floozies.  if anything happened, which we neither confirm nor deny, it was far away from this planet and no one needs to worry about piracy, which is under control in this sector.”

Were they the aggressors, or merely running for their lives from hostiles?  Stay tuned to this location for further updates.

Ostara Moot Recap

<< Begin Transmission>>

The Dokk Refurinn Sentai welcomed visitors from across the sector and beyond to their world’s Ostara Moot. Wishing visitors and colonists alike Ostara Blessings to all, the day marked the traditional is the Spring Equinox of the first worlds,  when night and day are both at equal length.

Colonists and guests fill the Caern as the Senti hosts the annual Ostara Moot.

Colonists and guests fill the Caern as the Senti hosts the annual Ostara Moot.

A special point of balance. On this day, light and dark are equal, but the light is surpassing the dark, warmth is taking over cold, life is taking over death, today we truly say goodbye to the long, dark winter.

The traditional spring celebrations of Ostara and Beltane are known throughout the Protectorate to often become passionate, sometimes wanton events. While this is not always the case, this reputation is known well beyond the protectorate’s boarders, and when local Sentai’s open the seasonal rites to outlanders and off worlders, many curious visitors tend to attend.

This year’s Ostara Moot at Dokk Refurinn we held at the Sentai’s Cearn, an ancient stone circle which hosts many of the Sentai’s traditional  Moots and cultural events. Not often open to large groups of off worlders, the Caren was decked out in festive tidings for the Moot.

Ratirahasyra crew members and passengers Olivia Augustus, Julia Sheehan and Miro Riers share a table with Engineer Nirrae while watching Gaia'nan Cassidhe dance with Fleeter Bailey Jean. Eric Kaplin and the crew of the Star Witch behind.

The local Sentai was joined by kin and outlanders from far flung parts of the ‘verse. Nova Gaia’s Sentai was represented by the Clan Wolf Ahroun Jagerwoll Darkwatch.  Local colonists and crews from several vessels, both local and making port-of-call were well represented with large contingents from the privateer  Star Witch and research vessel Ratirahasyra joining in the Moot’s revelation.

The event served as a social lubricant, to bring the widely dissimilar people together. With Captain Kita’s crew from the Star Witch sharing tales of their exploits with Professor Sheehan’s crew and passengers from the Ratiashasyra. Takoda and Gwenethe from the Witch spent much of the evening with Engineer Miro Rivers and Ms Oliva Augustu of the Ratia. Takoda and Gwen were joined by their ships officers Captain Kita and Mavia Hain later in the evening, while Azuma joined the Ratiashasyra’s crew.

Off worlders join in the dancing and celebrations late in the evening.

Local colonists were also well represented with Eric Zuffle and Claudia, along with Eric Kaplin making this their second Ostara Moot at the outpost. Several guests took the opperunity to take a swim in Scáth Loch led by colonist Nirrae, an aquatic and local engineer.

Professor Sheehan embraced the role of participant rather than observer and spent much of the evening conversing with Nirrae and fellow off worlder Kimlina as they watched the show put on by the local Sentai.

Led by Gaia’nan Cassidhe Sionnach the Hengeyokai Senai entertained with dancing and refreshments well into the night. While Ahroun  Elishandra Raicleach paired off early with Eric Kaplin, Cassi took center stage, treating the gathered guests to a display of grace and athletic ability as she spent much of the evening dancing with Starfleet’s lone representative, Supply Specialist Baily Jean from the USS Endurance.

Nirrae and Miro Rivers lead the way before others can join in on a refreshing swim outside the Caern and under the rangers watchful presence.

Nirrae and Miro Rivers lead the way before others can join in on a refreshing swim outside the Caern and under the rangers watchful presence.

The Moot ran well past its scheduled 2200hrs end time, and while the Hengeyokai Sentai slipped out before then for a more private meeting, they graciously allowed their guest to enjoy the rest of the evening, under discrete , yet watchful eyes of a Binary of rangers from the Kell Hounds, and the local SecFor detachment.

The administration appeared pleased with the  event, stating that while other commitments prevented the outpost rom hosting the annual winter ball, that they felt the Ostara Mott we well received by the colonists and guests.  Ostara in one of several seasonal Moots held throughout the year marking the old traditions of the Hengeyokai people.

Ostara Moot – Spring Equinox 2015 – Invitation

Saturday 21 March 2515
7 PM- 10 PM SLT
Dokk Refurinn
Botany Bay Sim

ostara 2015 Invite_1026

Please join the Hengeyokai  Gai’nan and  Outpost Chief of Dokk Refurinn; Casidhe Sionnach, for  the  Ostara Moot celebrating the Vernal Equinox of the first worlds.  The traditional end of winter and coming of spring signals the emergence of the fertility of the land and its people.

Ostara is an important time in the Hengeyokai tradition, when Hengeyokai Sentai were scattered far across the first worlds, Ostra was a gathering where young Hengeyokai could find a mate,  if only for the evening, a tradition that is carried to this day in many Warden Sentai.

The Ostara Moot tends to be a libidinous event! With the local Sentai mixing with visitors in search of a partner, for the evening of pleasures. The lascivious activities often come across as decadent to outlanders, but fill an important role in Hengeyokai society, giving the widely dispersed Clans the opportunity to find suitable mates.  Many Hengeyokai children are the result of such celebratory copulations, with the Hengeyokai parent raising the child independent of the outlander parent.  Some observers have theorized that True Hengeyokai actually enters a heightened state of fertility Colloquially and often ‘vulgarly’ referred to as  ‘Heat’.

The Moot itself is a mix of carnal pleasures that many more prudish cultures find distasteful.  Though the details vary from Clan to Clan and from Sentai to Sentai within the Clans, most include the ritual drinking of the potent alcoholic elixir Miruvor.  The Miruvor or Ostara is known to be an intoxicant and aphrodisiac within the Protectorate, but is not well known to Outlanders.  Miruvor acts on the pleasure centers directly, and rarely results in ‘angry’ drunks.   The euphoria experienced during the celebrations makes it an entertaining and often spiritual evening for everyone.

After much drinking and dancing, the Moot often devolves into a wanton display of sexuality and passion. Public couplings are not uncommon, and the Moot is not for the shy or faint of heart.  While the activity can get heated,  consent is naturally a requirement in such couplings, with the occasionally foolish outlander finding themselves at the wrong end of a saber or claw following a misunderstanding.  Almost All find delight here, but a rare few find death.

Ostara and its sister spring Moot, Beltane are among the most passionate and carnal social events among the Hengeyokai people and even in modern times, give the wide flung Hengeyokai a chance to cognate and find the pleasure of their own fin and folk. Since the renaissance of the current age, may Hengeyokai sentai have share these sacred events with those who share their worlds, both colonists and visitors alike. If you find yourself within the protectorate during these moots, do yourself a favor, and join in.

OOC: This In Character RP event is being held as part of our ‘Hengeyokai culture’ RP story.  This will clearly be an ADULT event, with heavy sensual & sexual adult themes. If you are offended by this type of RP, then this is not the event of you. The event is meant as a way to spring (pun intended) forward a new or existing story, or to highlight the interpersonal story of your characters while building on the Hengeyokai myth.

We expect to have public sexual RP occurring during this event, a departure from our Normal RP rules. It is a limited time event and does not signal a change in our regular RP rules (re: when the RP turns X rated, the scene should move to IM). We expect X rated public RP during this event. However, nothing ruins a good time as fast as poorly phrased public sexy time posts. We ask that you do move our more … lurid, descriptions into IM, while cross posting some less descriptive RP into main chat. Remember this is a public event.

Orbital & Business Updates

<< Begin Message >>

Traffic is heavy in the Dokk Refurinn System, as war and strife drives commercial traffic from other ports to the secure and prosperous Hengeyokai outpost.

The latest Merchant vessel to call the system home is the MV Escavol a Succora-Class Medium Cargo Freighter. The independent trader is crewed by Captain Piku and her Engineer Eoul.

Escavol

The Escavol is registered as a privately owned shipping contractor.  Most jobs involved  private work for small businesses and local waypoints.

During a cargo run, the Escavol fell into an active slipstream channel. Fast thinking and a lot of on-the-fly engine augmentation kept the ship going long enough to make it through in one somewhat battered piece.  Most of the damage was internal.  Several systems were sacrificed during the trip. The ship’s engines and main power-plant took the brunt of the damage.

Limping to Highport station, the Escavol established hard lock.  Piku and Eoul are a long way from familiar systems, but Home is the Escavol, so only the local scenery has changed.

Business is also booming aboard several of the local stations. Aboard Hypatia Station,
Dr Irissa Lee and her Medical assistant welcomed the arrival of two Companions from The K’veer Companion house to Dokk Refurinn. This was an important meeting for Dr Lee since she submitted the companion appointment request it was difficult to find the proper time for them to meet for the interview.

Companions and Crew of the Hyatia Station meet to discuss their new business arrangement.

Companions of house K’veer and Crew of the Hypatia Station meet to discuss their new business arrangement.

The meeting concluded with an agreement for Companion Dawnstar to serve on Hypatia Station as Dr Lee’s advisor and station ambassador.  Acocording to sources, The details will be clarified when the contract is delivered and signed. Preparations are under way to setup the accommodations for Dawnstar’s arrival. Rumors around the station have already begun with many asking what does this mean?  How will Hae Lee react or will she even care, and how does this impact the uneasy business arrangement with Dr Lee? Station residents have noted that Ms Lee usually has no problem voicing her opinion and has not been the most hospitable to new arrivals on Hypatia Station.

For her part, Dr Lee is not providing much details nor has her Assistant Soo Jin, They both have been quiet on this matter.

While the Companion House sets up aboard Hypatia, Club Mercy aboard Nemis Station continues to draw a large crowd of rogues and traders looking for the more, seedy, pleasures and  Entertainments.

Captain Nemis has reconfigured the Station to make it more accessible to the many visitors and crew members who call it home. Captain Nemis seems to have moved past her recent run in with the Administration, where she was forced to face the Kitsune Crinos Gaiscíoch in a trial of grievance.   Wisely choosing to accept the fines and torts rather than face the Crinos, Captain Nemis lived to Captain another day.

The incident serves as a reminder, that even established captains and this crews are expected to abide by the Administrations regulations while in port, especially regarding the use of arms or force and the treatment of wards.
