A special point of balance. On this day, light and dark are equal, but the light is surpassing the dark, warmth is taking over cold, life is taking over death, today we truly say goodbye to the long, dark winter.

The traditional spring celebrations of Ostara and Beltane are known throughout the Protectorate to often become passionate, sometimes wanton events. While this is not always the case, this reputation is known well beyond the protectorate’s boarders, and when local Sentai’s open the seasonal rites to outlanders and off worlders, many curious visitors tend to attend.

This year’s Ostara Moot at Dokk Refurinn we held at the Sentai’s Cearn, an ancient stone circle which hosts many of the Sentai’s traditional  Moots and cultural events. Not often open to large groups of off worlders, the Caren was decked out in festive tidings for the Moot.

The local Sentai was joined by kin and outlanders from far flung parts of the ‘verse. Nova Gaia’s Sentai was represented by the Clan Wolf Ahroun Jagerwoll Darkwatch.  Local colonists and crews from several vessels, both local and making port-of-call were well represented with large contingents from the privateer  Star Witch and research vessel Ratirahasyra joining in the Moot’s revelation.

The event served as a social lubricant, to bring the widely dissimilar people together. With Captain Kita’s crew from the Star Witch sharing tales of their exploits with Professor Sheehan’s crew and passengers from the Ratiashasyra. Takoda and Gwenethe from the Witch spent much of the evening with Engineer Miro Rivers and Ms Oliva Augustu of the Ratia. Takoda and Gwen were joined by their ships officers Captain Kita and Mavia Hain later in the evening, while Azuma joined the Ratiashasyra’s crew.

Local colonists were also well represented with Eric Zuffle and Claudia, along with Eric Kaplin making this their second Ostara Moot at the outpost. Several guests took the opperunity to take a swim in Scáth Loch led by colonist Nirrae, an aquatic and local engineer.

Professor Sheehan embraced the role of participant rather than observer and spent much of the evening conversing with Nirrae and fellow off worlder Kimlina as they watched the show put on by the local Sentai.

Led by Gaia’nan Cassidhe Sionnach the Hengeyokai Senai entertained with dancing and refreshments well into the night. While Ahroun  Elishandra Raicleach paired off early with Eric Kaplin, Cassi took center stage, treating the gathered guests to a display of grace and athletic ability as she spent much of the evening dancing with Starfleet’s lone representative, Supply Specialist Baily Jean from the USS Endurance.

The Moot ran well past its scheduled 2200hrs end time, and while the Hengeyokai Sentai slipped out before then for a more private meeting, they graciously allowed their guest to enjoy the rest of the evening, under discrete , yet watchful eyes of a Binary of rangers from the Kell Hounds, and the local SecFor detachment.

The administration appeared pleased with the  event, stating that while other commitments prevented the outpost rom hosting the annual winter ball, that they felt the Ostara Mott we well received by the colonists and guests.  Ostara in one of several seasonal Moots held throughout the year marking the old traditions of the Hengeyokai people.
