“I heard it approach, the swoosh of air, at first, I thought it was some sort of shuttle, but then I saw it!” was technician third class Rovtiovic’s reaction to the dramatic arrival of the Outposts newest resident Llwynog draig Tywyll.
The rare appearance of what the Administration is referring to as a ‘true’ Dragon, has set the outposts rumor mill into overdrive. referred to as Liltwill for short by the Outpost’s public affairs office, the creatures surprise arrival and imposing presence came as a shock to many colonists and visitors. The massive flying visitor spent some time, orbiting the outpost’s quad and landing fields, before settling on the North Quad’s roof for some time, overlooking the Marketplace. SECFOR and the Ranger detachment were quick respond, reassuring both colonists and visitors that Liltwill was “on our side”, as Ranger Commander ‘shandra stated to gathered media.
Requests for further information about the new arrival has thus far, gone unanswered by the Adminstration. In a short stamen, Adminstrator Sionnach had this to say, “Gaia’s defenders take many forms, and Llwynog Draig Tywyll is one of the .. impressive ones, to grace our shores. The Hengeyokai Protectorate is home to many of unique peoples. We are glad to welcome Liltwill to the outpost.”
Wither llwynog draig tywyll is only passing though, or will be a long term resident of the Outpost remains to be seen. While ‘dragonform’ lifeforms are not unheard of in the ‘verse, the most notable hailing from the world of Pern in the Daedalus sector, the size and apparent intelligence of our new visitor is unusual, making Liltwill’s visit to the Outpost an odd occurrence.
The Drake’s appearance coincides with reports of an extended Ranger operation on the dark side of Dokk Refurrinn. Reports of extended combat against a large force of Kine and their minions have circulated among the colonists. What part Liltwill played in this operation has yet to be determined.
Regardless of the purpose of her visit, the Drake’s arrival has caused quite a stir in the colony, bringing images of a more, romantic time of awe and wonder to the often ‘cold’ technology of a deep space outpost.
