During an otherwise relatively quiet session of the laandsrat last Wednesday Myrmidon Order announced a suspension of the treaty between the Order and the U.S.D. claiming ‘hostilities’ between the two factions. Taharqa Pryxis, further proclaimed the likelihood of renewed ‘hostilities’ hinting at armed conflict between the Order and USD forces.
Emissary Jubilynn Lane, of the Hengeyokai raised immediate concern, given that the Myrmidon’s alliance with the Ta’seti is now well documented, any hostilities between the Myrmoidon and the allied military forces defending Mu Draconis aginst the Ta’Seti would make the Myrmidon Order the defacto ally of the Ta’Seti.
Not surprisingly, the Myrmidon’s seem either oblivious to this fact, or think the rest of the Laandsrat would be oblivious to such a blatant power grab. When asked repeatedly, wether the Order would honor the oath it gave to defend Mu Draconis, Taharqa Pryxis repeated refused to answer as seen in the following transcript: << edited for clarity>>
Taharqa Pryxis: If you speak of some oath we gave to defend …. this planet none was ever given. or ask for.
Jubilynn Lane: glances to Joan, ” are they not sworn to defend this world ? “
Joan Vhargon: I believe that was Lord Hyperion’s words, Yes.
Taharqa Pryxis : Lady jubliynn it is obvious that you are also swayed i the cauldron of mis understanding and mis direction
Jubilynn Lane: ” Your Lord Hyperion Swore on his honor, to defend this world “, ” now you claim it is not so, “
Taharqa Pryxis: We will be glad to Clear any information you required. However with a more civil and respectful tongue
Jubilynn Lane: ” talk plain sir “, : ” Are you, or are you Not , sworn to defend this world, “
Taharqa Pryxis: Otherwise. you are wasting not only your breathe… but this chambers time
Jubilynn Lane: ” Yes, or No “
” one simple word “
” answer the question “
Reiko Soyinka: I think the Khan is out of order. This is NOT the Star Chamber.
Joan Vhargon: Bangs her gavel, “Thank you for your passionate speech Khan Lane.”
Taharqa Pryxis: what is the question. you done an excellent job i draping it in innuendo. and hearsay so pardon me if I fail to see it
Joan Vhargon: It would not be the first time this chamber has seen a Great House change its allegiance. Is that what is happening with the Myrmidon’s?
Jubilynn Lane: ” ARE … You ….. Sworn … To … defend … this … world ” she repeats the question slowly for him
Joan Vhargon: Bangs her gavel. “Great houses bend and alter agreements every day.” : Again My lord Pryxis. The situation with the Ta’Seti has change the playing field quite a bit.”
Taharqa Pryxis: Not to my knowledge.. like any commitment we defend the defenseless, however. as you know we are in an alliance with the Ta’Seti
Taharqa Pryxis : In that I believe we taken an neutral stance i this matter.
It is clear from this exchange, the Myrmidon’s wish the residents of Mu Draconis to believe that a neutral stance, would be aiding the Ta’Seti by attacking the allied defenders of the world, under shady circumstances: going so far as to deny the oaths they publicly took to defend the Mu Draconis System to advance their current agenda, an agenda apparently shared with the Ta’Seti.
In response to this news, it is widely believed that Emissary Lane will propose an article amendment to the ministry of defense act previously passed by the Laandsrat. The amendment, tentatively titled article V, was leaked to several reporters and partial text is below:
Reguarding Forces Under the Unified Command of the Mu Draconis Minister of Defense, operating under the authority of the Ruling Legislature of Mu Draconis in defense of the world from outside agressors:
The Parties agree that an armed attack against one or more of them in the Mu Draconis System shall be considered an attack against them all and consequently they agree that, if such an armed attack occurs, each of them, in exercise of the right of individual or collective self-defence, will assist the Party or Parties so attacked by taking forthwith, individually and in concert with the other Parties, such action as it deems necessary, including the use of armed force, to restore and maintain the security of the Mu Draconis Star System.
Any such armed attack and all measures taken as a result thereof shall immediately be reported to the Laandsrat Council. Such measures shall be terminated when the Laandsrat Council has taken the measures necessary to restore and maintain system wide peace and security.
The measure, designed to keep the various allied militaries from turning on each other, while defending the system from off world aggression acknowledges that there will be friction between factions, but that such things need to be tabled when the system is threatened from outside. How this measure will be received in the Laandsrat remains to be seen.
